## What preserved moss actually is
Preserved (or stabilized) moss is real moss — not a synthetic imitation. Harvested at the best moment of its lifecycle, it is treated with a natural saline solution that replaces the plant's sap and stops photosynthesis and growth. The result is a "crystallized" plant that keeps its color, softness, and structure for years — without water, soil, sunlight, or pruning.

- Indoor only. Preserved moss needs a relative humidity around 40–50% — coincidentally, the same range recommended for human thermal comfort. It's not designed for outdoor use.
- It's a living hygrometer. If the room gets too dry (especially in winter, when heating drops humidity), the moss can harden and crumble slightly. That's a signal — your room is too dry for you too. Ventilate or add a humidifier, and the moss re-softens once humidity is restored.
- Never spray it with water. Water washes away the stabilizing salt solution. If it feels dry, fix the room's humidity — don't water the wall.
- Ask for certification. A reputable supplier should be able to show fire-safety ratings, antibacterial certifications, and transparent sourcing for the natural materials used.
## Where it fits in 2026
From executive offices and showrooms to hospitals and hospitality lobbies, preserved moss solves a very modern problem: how to bring nature inside without the operational cost of keeping it alive. It's not a substitute for living plants — nothing replaces real, growing greenery. But for the spaces where plants can't survive and the teams that can't maintain them, preserved moss is arguably the smartest green investment you can make.
